It’s always a pleasure and a joyful occasion when someone who partnered with you achieves a milestone event. Let me narrate the story of these two large fleet operators that fly fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
As we know, machines do age, but aircraft aging is determined by its design economic life, which is based on flight hours and cycles. Many of us have come across airplanes that may have even completed their Golden Jubilee in terms of age, but occasions of decommissioning an aircraft due to reaching its ultimate design life are rare. One of our customers achieved this rare feat of retiring an ATR aircraft after completing 70,000 flight cycles, thanks to the technical team who performed maintenance and inspections to keep it in the air until its last design economic cycle count.
A helicopter operation is always more challenging, and our customer achieved a commendable milestone of flying for 100,000 hours absolutely accident-free. It takes sheer determination from everyone in the organization to follow processes, adhere to strict maintenance standards and operating procedures, and voluntarily participate in a safety culture to raise the bar to an international level.
